Summer School Scholarships

N.B.: Unless otherwise stated, literature students wishing to be considered for a scholarship should apply directly to SUISS and applications for all scholarships (except the Edwin Morgan Translation Fellowship, the Saltire Fellowships and the U21 Scholarships) should be received by 22nd March. There are no separate application forms for any of the scholarships.

SUISS Scholarships

SUISS gives a number of scholarships to applicants of the Text and Context modules, which offer some help with the course fee, but not with the the accommodation fee. To apply for a scholarship you have to include with your application a letter explaining why you wish to be considered. One of your referees has to support your scholarship application. Awards are made on the basis of genuine financial need, academic merit and the contribution which the candidate seems likely to make to the general life of the School. Please mention which scholarship you are applying for on the relevant part on page 4 of the application form.

Saltire Scholarship for Scottish Literature

SUISS is pleased to be able to offer three Saltire scholarships again in 2013. These scholarships are for scholars from abroad, who either run courses in Scottish Literature, or who have permission from their departments to set up such a course, or doctoral candidates in the late stages of a PhD on an aspect of Scottish Literature. The scholarship covers the course and accommodation fee for the Scottish Literature course, as well as an additional study week for research. The application deadline for this scholarship has been extended to 26th April.
