Term Two: Term Three: Creative Writing |
Eligibility for the Summer School in ScotlandThe Summer School's programme is intensive but flexible. It welcomes students at various stages of their education and lives. In past years, students who have spent around two years in undergraduate study in their chosen field have generally gained most from the School. The Summer School has also proved very attractive to teachers and postgraduates, particularly those involved in further research, who can make use of both the study programme and the extensive library resources available in Edinburgh. The SUISS Creative Writing course is designed to cater for students with varying levels of writing experience. The School is happy to consider applications from undergraduates, postgraduates, and teachers, as well as published writers keen to widen their skills. Places are awarded on the basis of the submitted sample of their work and the letter of recommendation. CreditCredit is available to, although not compulsory for, all students attending the course. Those who do register for credit can gain it for each two-week term. Summer School credit is affiliated to the University of Edinburgh degree credit scheme (SCQF) and to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), both of which are used by Universities throughout the world. The credit scheme is based on a combination of contact teaching hours and independent study and formal assessment. This credit can be sought at two levels (SCQF8 and SCQF10), which are equivalent to Junior Honours (1 - 3 years of study) and Senior Honours (4 or more years of study) levels. This allows SUISS students to pursue their credits at a level appropriate to the stage of their studies at their home institution. Please note that in order to obtain credit points for any course, the attendance at lectures is compulsory. More information is available here. SUISS Attendance CertificateEvery student attending the Summer School receives a Certificate of Attendance when they complete the Course to the satisfaction of the Directors.
