Term Two: Term Three: Creative Writing |
Apply for a Place at the Summer SchoolWe are accepting applications for SUISS from January 2011. Please include two passport photos with your application. Application forms can be obtained directly from the SUISS Administrator or downloaded here: Applications for the Text and Context course must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation from academic referees (university teachers or persons of similar standing) who are familiar with your work. From teachers, we request only one reference, preferably by their head of department or head of school. Creative Writing applications must be accompanied by a single short sample of prose or drama piece of max. 3000 words or poetry of max. 50 lines, together with one letter of recommendation from a university teacher or a person of similar standing who is familiar with your creative writing. To secure a place on the Text and Context course and to guarantee accommodation, we strongly advise you to apply by 28th April 2011. However, we will continue to consider applications as long as places are available. Please contact the SUISS administrator if you have any queries. Students from African countries must apply by 31st March 2011 to allow adequate time for their visa application. Unless the student's attendance is solely dependent on winning one of the specific full scholarships, all applications have to be accompanied by a deposit of £100. Places on the Creative Writing programme are restricted to 40 maximum. There are two closing dates for applications: the first one is 3rd March 2011. If successful, the student's place will then be reserved on receipt of an instalment of £200. For any remaining places available, there is a second closing date on 28th April 2011, but we will continue to consider applications as long as places are available. NB: Due to popular demand, we include an extra closing date for the Creative Writing course - 1st April 2011. All those who have applied by the recommended date will be informed of the result of their applications within one month of applying. Applications from the United States should be sent to the College of Global Studies at Arcadia University or to the Institute for Study Abroad at Butler University. American teachers applying through the English-Speaking Union should apply to their local branch of the ESU. For contact details for Arcadia, Butler and the ESU, go here. NB: Students applying for a scholarship should check the relevant closing date (eg the relevant closing date for CWIT is later than the first closing date for Creative Writing). Late applications will be considered only where vacancies remain. |
